Thank you to
Lichfield society for asking me to judge at their 2023 premier open
show. Thank you also to my two very lovely and efficient stewards, and
to the exhibitors for their entries.
All dogs were beautifully presented and with great temperaments. One
thing to note, this breed needs a quick walking handler, no need to run.
A few dogs today were ran with, and most dogs could not keep up with
their handler, making movement difficult to assess.
Puppy (1)
1 Aston & Bowens Glamglow’s Cotton Candy. 11 month old bitch. This
little girl screams “Japanese Spitz” to look at. Correct height for a
bitch, and so well balanced with the most perfect outline and standing
four square at all times. Prettiest of heads, with dark oval eyes giving
the most beautiful expression. Nice to see a correct arch and length of
neck. Moved at the correct pace, being able to show off the correct
amount of reach and drive for this non working breed. Everything you
could want in a Japanese Spitz! Pleased to award her BOB & BPIB. Lovely
to see her shortlisted in a strong adult group and awarded puppy group
2.
Junior (3)
1 Aston & Bowens Glamglows Just A Crush. 11 month old dog, litter
sibling to my puppy winner and very much all the same values. Masculine
enough without being course. A real showman. Moved out well with light
and nimble action. Correct lay of shoulder, level back with well set
tail. Great muscle for age too. Slightly shorter in neck but longer in
back. Definitely one to watch once he matures.
2 Aston & Bowens Glamglow’s Dash Of Class. 2 year old bitch. Well
bodied, with correct lay of shoulder, and great spring of rib. Pretty
head, with good eye colour and shape. Correct ears. High set tail with
just enough bone. Slightly unsettled on the move today.
3 Chapmans Emiko Yukiko.
Post Graduate (3)
1 Repeat of puppy winner.
2 Drapers Tawvale Genshi. 3 year old male. Masculine boy, with good
head. Correct shape and set of eye. Good dark pigment. Correct size and
set of ears. Correct lay of shoulder and good bone. Good spring of rib,
level topline with correct set of tail. Well muscled throughout. Moved
correctly for most of the time, did have a tendency to pace.
3 Aston & Bowen’s Glamglow’s Blessed One.
Open (3)
1 Drapers Tawvale Chiko. 5 year old dog. All male. Great head, with dark
oval shaped eyes. Great pigment. Well bodied, with enough muscle. Good
arch and length of neck, going into correct shoulders. Tight cat like
feet, and enough bone throughout. Level topline with good spring of rib
and strong loin. Correct high set tail. Longer hocks. Won the class on
his steady but light and nimble movement. RBOB.
2 Aston and Bowens Glamglow’s Made You Blush. 2 year old bitch. And so
pretty! Correct height to withers. Would like a little more neck to
complete the picture, but beautiful nevertheless! Correct amount of coat
for a bitch her age. Typical Spitz outline and enough bone. Perfect
cat-like feet.
