My thanks to the Collie Association for the invitation to judge the Smooth Collies (no CCs) at their Championship Show. This is always an enjoyable and well run show and I enjoyed my day. I had a good quality entry and those dogs who stood alone in their classes deserved their 1st places. My grateful thanks to my stewards, Bev White and Trevor Hayward who kept things running smoothly. V (4,2) 1 Russells Foxearth Fashio Guru for Koczkodan. Shaded sable male who at 7 years has matured into a lovely dog and is looking better than I have ever seen him. Wedge head, well filled foreface, medium sized almond eye, well placed ears, good length of neck, well developed chest and level topline. Good angulation overall well set tail of good length with the desired swirl. Very good mover. The overall picture fits the breed standard well.BD, BOB, BV. 2 Hartleys Foxearth Silver Dream at Jimcrack ShCM. Blue Merle bitch. Well proportioned with attractive head, good length of neck and level topline. Moved well but couldn't match the front assembly of 1. PD (1) 1 Dentons Brackenhaye Fields of Gold. Lovely young shaded sable puppy who was enjoying his day out. Good head pattern with dark almond shaped eyes and well set ears giving the desired expression. Well constructed with good lay of shoulder and well angulated stifle, low set tail of good length. Moved very well. One to watch. BDP. PGD (1) 1 Norman's Seanua Signature. Sable, promising young dog. Well filled foreface, correct eye and ear placement, arched neck, well developed chest, good shoulder and upper arm angulation. Topline could be firmer. His rear movement let him down today. Hocks need to tighten. LD (1) 1 Leach's Manordeifi Dionysus at Hilltarn. Blue Merle. Not the best of showmen but a very well constructed dog, everything is in proportion with no exaggerations. Wedge head with correct eye and ear placement giving a lovely expression, good length of neck, level topline and low set tail. Moved very well. RBD. OD (1) 1 Coles' Sturtmoor Dream of Kasvelyn. Sable of 23 months and still maturing. He has an attractive head but his eye is a little round and today he wasn't bringing his ears up on top. Good length of neck and lay of shoulder, well angulated stifle with well set tail. Needs to mature. PB (1) 1 Denton's Brackenhaye Shape O' My Heart. 9 months tricolour. Well filled foreface, flat skull, arched neck, well angulated shoulder and upper arm, low set tail of good length, excellent bend of stifle with well let down hocks. A little slack in topline which should improve as she matures. Moves well. One for the future. BBP, BP. RBB. JB (1) 1 Russell's Breckamore Bittersweet for Koczkodan. 12 month tricolour just out of puppy. She has a lovely wedge head with a flat skull and good eye and ear placement giving a lovely alert expression. Although her front and rear angulation is good she is not quite in proportion and needs more length of leg. PGB (1) 1 Hartley's Foxearth Finnish Spirit at Jimcrack. Tricolour 22 months old, lovely head properties, particularly good ear placement, giving an alert expression. Well proportioned bitch, fair length of neck and level topline. Good shoulder placement, upper arm is a little steep which limited her front extension on the move although a very sound mover. Shapely hindquarters with well let down hocks. Although a little lively at the start of the class when she settled and showed off her charms she presents as a very attractive bitch. She was pushed hard in the challenge by the RBB but won BB on her better topline and overall maturity. RBOB. OB (7,4) 1 Russell's Manordeifi Satin Doll of Koczkodan. 7 year old tricolour, balanced feminine head, lovely length of neck, depth of chest, and very well constructed, well set long tail, moved well. 2 Griffith's Alopex Little Summer. 7 year old sable. Lovely head pattern and expression she has a good length of neck but is not keen to show it of. Well constructed but couldn't quite match 1 for movement. Doesn't make the best of herself which is such a shame as she is a very nice bitch
