A big thank you to the committee of the LCC for this invitation. A Club that has always been close to my heart - memories of lots of really good wins here, some excellent judging appointments and always the same wonderful hospitality. Thanks too to the exhibitors for a really quality entry. PD (3, 1) 1 Trundley's Blamorder Back to the Future, extremely promising blue merle of exquisite colouring. Very appealing in outline having a great reach of neck, correct length of back, good angulation front and rear, long tail. His head needs to settle yet but he has a beautiful expression, ears well set on and used. Just needs to fill out now and settle. Covers the ground well, watch the speed, he loses his coordination if moved too fast. BP and BPIS - well done. 2 Benton & Wood's Oakestelle Vivaldi, promising youngster who would benefit from carrying more weight. Lovely head and expression. Good reach of neck, very good rear angulations, needing more chest and better shoulder. Moved very well. JD (1) 1 Back to the Future. PGD (1) 1 Kennedy's Rycombe Deb'N Air. This dog is improving all the time. He has an attractive outline with a super reach of neck, just enough length of back for his height. Angulation is good front and rear but he must not be over extended at the back. His head pattern is very typical and pleasing but he still needs to flatten in backskull. Tail rather too gay. Moved really well. LD (4, 2) 1 Leach's Manordeifi Dionysus at Hilltarn. Another male who continues to improve. He excels in expression which is what gave him the class today. His conformation is very good but he is still rather narrow all through. Moved very well. 2 Denton's Ryecombe Jaffa Jake. Well-made tri dog who again needs to body up as he is too narrow all through as yet. His head is quite pleasing but his eye is rather light. Moved very well. OD (2) 1 French's Foxearth Flockmaster for Breckamore JW. Mature tri male who presents an overall very pleasing picture. So well balanced with super reach of neck, correct length of back, correct front and rear angulations. His head is pleasing; flat backskull, correctly shaped and placed eye, stop a little low, well moulded foreface and correct underjaw. Ears well set and used. He moved with fluency, covering the ground with ease. Shown in excellent condition and attentive to his handler at all times. CC, BOB and RBIS - congratulations. 2 Trundley's Juniperwood King of Kings. Lovely dog. Rather overweight which affected his movement and not the condition of 1 but he impressed for his correct breed type. His ears are a little soft which detracts from what otherwise is a very pleasing expression. VD (1, 0) 1 Griffiths Alopex Matt Finnish. Extremely typy tri dog with excellent construction and very pleasing head type. A little finer all through than some but he is balanced and moves very soundly if a little reluctantly sometimes. Impressed for his overall breed type Res CC, BV and BVIS. PB (4) 1 French's Breckamore Bang Tidy. Quality tri bitch who is big enough but who is even so very balanced. Excellent conformation with lovely neck, correct length of back and really well angulated front and rear. Head of good type, sweet eye and expression, stop a little low. Excels in movement, light and covering the ground well. 2 Benton's Oakestelle Venus de Milo. Finer and smaller than 1 and needing more body and substance. Excels in colour. Her head is very pleasing and her expression is very sweet thanks to her lovely eye and ears used non-stop. Movement was very good. 3 Glover's Oakestelle Indie Rock at Stormsett. PGB (3) 1 French's Foxearth Fingerprint. Pretty sable of ideal size and balance who was overall a very typy bitch. Lovely conformation, super reach of neck and length of back, great angulations and when she settled, moved very well. I would prefer a darker eye and a better placed stop but she is a very nice collie. 2 Trundley's Juniperwood Jubilation. Another very typy dog from this kennel. Excellent conformation and head type, very sweet expression but ears rather soft which detracts somewhat. Moved very well. LB (5, 1)1 Lusty's Juniperwood Just a Dream, headed a very strong class. I thought this was a very lovely bitch who is starting to achieve maturity. Ideal for size she is very balanced, super reach of neck, correct angulations front and rear, correct length of back. Her head is lovely, balanced with correctly placed stop, sweet dark eye, well placed ears used non-stop. Just needs to fill in foreface. Moved extremely well. On this form, should make up. Res CC and pushed hard for the top spot. 2 Howard & Smith's Jack Mack's Hefin Huw, very well made b/m who impressed for her balance and showmanship. Super reach of neck, correct length of back, excellent angulations, perfect movement. Just a little strong in head and light in eye for me. 3 Denton's Kevranna Thera's Enate Echo. OB (9, 1) 1 Norman's Ch Foxearth Fashioned in Black headed the class of the day. Enjoying a rare outing, she stood and showed her head off. A quality bitch who excels in breed type and balance. Excellent reach of neck and length of back, excellent angulations fore and aft, long tail carried well. Her head is very pleasing, flat backskull, correct stop, moulded foreface, ears well set and used. Her eye is shapely and obliquely set, could be a touch darker for perfection but this does not detract from her lovely expression. In the class and bitch challenge her movement was excellent but she is carrying a little too much weight over her shoulders and this told in the BOB challenge where she could not match the dog for movement and she began to favour one shoulder. CC & RBOB - it was lovely to see her again. 2 Benton's Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle. Good coloured B/M with really harsh coat who has bodied up to advantage after her recent litter. Super balance, excellent reach of neck and length of back. Lovely head and very sweet expression. Moved really well and showmanship first class. Unlucky today to meet 1 in limit for RCC challenge. 3 Sewell's Ch Foxearth Dressed to Frill.

BIS REPORT: It was a great honour and privilege to be invited by the London Collie Club to judge BIS at their Sub-Group Championship Show, particularly nice as it was 30 years ago to the day that I was invited by this club to award my first CCs. I was also to act as referee, but as Alan and Ann Tyler were judging the rough collies between them, it was most unlikely that I would be called upon to officiate! Thanks to secretary Steven Clark and his lovely committee for their hospitality. Bev White judged the smooth collies and sent forward as her BOB, Ann French's Ch Foxearth Flock Master for Breckamore JW (Ch Foxearth High Frequency ex Ch Sandcastle's As You Like It at Foxearth), a blue merle who, rising three, is surely at his best. The Tylers agreed on Andre and Chantelle Scott's Chantique Simply Dreamy (Ch Lynmead Simply In My Soul ex Chantique Pixie Bell), homebred sable and white bitch who really lives up to her name. Flock Master stood his ground, never gave an inch and, as his very good conformation would suggest, moved with animation and authority. So, however, did Simply Dreamy where her beautiful head, eye and expression completely won me over so I was pleased to award her BIS. The best rough collie dog, Hanvale Happy Go Lucky, was brought in to challenge for RBIS but could not match Flock Master whose attitude and masculinity earned him that award plus BOS in show. Simply Dreamy completed a fabulous weekend for her kennel as her dam won the CC at Border Union the previous day. Well made throughout, very good shoulder and front, good drive from the rear. For BPIS, the smooth collie, Brian and Brenda Trundley's Blamorder Back To The Future (Ch Foxearth Flintab ex Juniperwood Dreammaker at Blamorder), eight month tricolour dog, won top spot over the rough, Tracey Jackson's homebred blue merle, Sassari Sequens (Sassari Mister Solitaire ex Sassari Salsa), beautiful but six months on the day and giving far too much away on her ring debut. Two impressive veterans vied for top spot which went to Isobel Griffiths' Alopex Matt Finnish (Ch Moon Walker from Misstoff ex Alopex Confetti Blue), homebred blue merle male who earlier won the RDCC. He won BVIS over Marie McLaughlin's Ch Derbypark Could It Be Magic for Brihow JW (Ir Ch Country's Dream King For A Day JS (imp Hungary) ex Ch Buebezi Black 'n' Pretty for Derbypark), beautiful tricolour bitch who gave her all but Matt Finnish just had the edge on movement. All exhibits sent through were sound, had excellent temperament & very good conformation.
