I was thrilled with the entry of 24 making 32 – quite the best entry at this show for some time. Some absentees on the day which was disappointing. Dogs were of better quality than bitches today. My best of breed looked wonderful in the group and represented us well. Please don’t forget to clean your collie’s teeth regularly – it is a beauty show and bad teeth and gum disease have no place there!
Puppy D/B (4, 1)
1 French’s Foxearth Flock Master for Breckamore. Stunning youngster with spadefuls of potential. Very well balanced all through. Lovely reach of neck, excellent front with super shoulder placement. Good spring of rib and correct length of back. Excellent bone, legs and feet. Excellent rear angulation and bend of stifle. Tail of correct length. His head has yet to finish obviously but it is balanced with correct planes. Stop could be a little cleaner but that may come. Sweet expression thanks to his lovely dark, well placed eye and ears correctly placed and well used. Movement totally correct from any angle, covering the ground with reach and drive. A confident showman. BP & Res CC
2 Norman’s Ryecombe Drama Queen. Promising s/w, up to size but totally balanced and feminine. Super reach of neck and very good front. Correct length of back and spring of rib, well angulated behind. Long tail. Head is clean and balanced with correct stop; expression could be sweeter. Moved well with reach and drive. Took the res Cc over 2 in open thanks to her cleaner head.

Junior D (3, 1)
1 Williams McClelland Hotter than Hell. Wow – what a fantastic outline this youngster has! Presents such an elegant picture with his wonderful reach of neck with the desired crest, perfect length of back, long tail and wonderful angulations. His head is slightly unbalanced and his foreface needs to develop but he has a super expression thanks to his dark, well placed eyes and well placed and used ears. Moved well from all angles. A serious contender for top honours today and one who will win well in the future.
2 Leach’s Manordeifi Dionysus at Hilltarn. B/m dog with lovely head and expression. Too narrow all through and needs more body condition. Presenting a rather square outline and not the desired length to height ratio. Movement erratic and prone to pacing.
Post Grad D (3, 1)
1 West’s Alopex Oysterman. Workmanlike collie who has all the essentials but who is determined not to show them off. His head is clean and typical but his eye is too round for my taste. Conformation is good and he moves well. Absolutely no sparkle and does himself no favours.
2 M Dionysus at H
Limit (3, 1)
1 Norman and Ratcliffe’s Easy Listening at Seanua. Upstanding s/w excelling in head and expression. Super reach of neck and very good angulations. Correct length of back and long tail. Moved better than I have seen him for a while but was very unsettled in the ring.
2 A Oysterman
Open D (4, 2)
1 Williams Foxearth Forward Thinking for McClelland. Super s/w who stood and showed and just demanded the CC today! His head is so clean and balanced; super expression thanks to his well placed and shaped dark eye, correctly placed stop and ears used non-stop. His outline is impressive with his lovely crested neck, super shoulders, excellent spring of rib and length of back. Well angulated rear quarters and long tail. Very good legs and feet and plenty of bone for his size. Moved so well. A real classy collie. CC.
2 Neil’s Ir Ch Norcis Air of Mystery, tri of outstanding conformation and flashy markings that definitely shout ‘look at me’! Fantastic reach of neck and excellent front and rear angulations. Correct length of back and long tail. Moved well but throwing one back leg out when moving away. Rather too strong in head for me and expression spoilt by heavy ears.
Post Grad B (3, 2)
1 Rice’s Kingrock Adriel. Tri bitch up to size. Pleasing head but ears rather heavy. Rather round in eye. Super reach of neck and correct length of back. Shoulder could be better. Moved well.

1 Hayward’s Ch Sandcastles As You Like it at Foxearth. Outstanding b/m bitch. Absolutely balanced in outline and excelling in neck and front. Correct length of back with desired slight rise over the loin. Excellent rear angulation and bend of stifle. Long tail correctly carried. Her head is so clean and balanced. Beautifully moulded foreface. Super sweet expression thanks to her correctly placed and shaped eye. Ears correctly placed and used non stop. Excellent well broken colour. Moved so well from all angles, covering the ground with reach and drive. A super showgirl and an easy CC and BOB today.
2 Neff’s Hightri Until. Another super collie with all the essentials. Conformation correct in every aspect and moved really well. So unlucky to meet the eventual winners today.
