What a hugely disappointing entry with only 14 exhibits making 19 entries. Sadly I had to withhold the RBCC. The nicest part of the day was watching the BOB winner go on to win BIS – a welcome boost for the breed.

PD (2) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Felix Cited, s/w of lovely size, substance, shape & outline, head well balanced, ample stop definition, flattest of skulls & well rounded foreface well carried & tipped ears & he possesses a lovely set-on of neck, his angles pleased, his action is fluent & with maturity will go on to his title; 2 Williams’ Foxearth Forward Thinking for McClelland, litter brother to the winner & similar to him in many respects, good height at the withers, bags of substance, very good head planes, ears not yet as settled as Felix, slightly better eye than him & in good condition. At present he needs to gain a little width in forechest & he doesn’t quite have the bend of stifle of 1. JD (2,1a) 1 Forbes & Clements’ Pelghart Proudly Presents to Willowhurst, no doubting the sex of this b/m. Tall, well ribbed, reachy neck, level backline, nice croup moulding & balanced angulations, pleasing head with a good flat skull, perhaps a little deeper through than I like but his expression is good. Lacks control on the move which held him back. PGD (0). LD (1) 1 Griffiths’ Alopex Matt Finnish, not the biggest in the world but definitely masculine in outlook, I liked the cleanness of his head, smooth & fitting the palm so well, lovely eyes & ears, such a good neck & flowing topline, well rounded croup & good tail, spotless in coat he used his well angulated hindquarters to take him smoothly round the ring with the minimum of effort & maximum effect, hence the RCC. OD (2) Hayward’s Ch Sandcastle’s True Topic, I felt today that he stood away from the opposition, beautiful head, eyes, ears & expression, so balanced in angulations, excellent spring of rib, decent forechest, well let down, firm & straight hocks with a low set & correctly carried tail, he exudes class, has a definite air about him & on the move he showed an easy, un-exaggerated yet fluent & efficient stride. CC & BOB. Delighted to see him perform so well in the big ring to take BIS; 2 Forbes’ Ch/Ir/Int Ch Peghart Paint It Black at Willowhurst, tall handsome tri, long head, shade deep through in backskull for me. Super muzzle with well shaped & coloured eyes adding to his charm, he is so well ribbed, strong loin & clean croup line, like his kennelmate he never really got his act together on the move, overreaching in front & proving quite a handful for his ‘runner’.

PB (2) 1 Fort’s Shulune Imperial Legacy, a smashing s/w who I thought to be a total charmer. I know she can be a little unsettled on the move when she does her semi goose step impersonation but once settled she shows that she can look dignified & even striding when she puts her mind to it. Her size & outline are quite captivating, her angles so good, coat & presentation flawless & what a show off in stance. I loved her head, the eyes are quite beautiful & those perfectly set & carried ears completed the picture. Just 9 months old she surely is a bright new star in the breed. BP & CC; 2 Hayward’s Foxearth Sticky Fingers, another s/w but this one still at the playful, raw stage. Has much to like, possibly the best front & rear angulation of the day, very good neck & spring of rib. Carrying too much bodyweight at present & proved quite a handful for her handler when asked to move. Her head is a good one piece shape, enough length & very good eyes. Just needs time. JB (2) 1 Benton’s Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle, nicely coloured b/m, pleasing skull, could have more foreface, nice eyes & ears. So very well angulated in hindquarters & has a smooth, even stepping profile action. Just not enough of her for me, lacking weight of bone & body substance; 2 Griffiths’ Alopex Little Summer, standing looked the likely winner as she is a good size, is well bodied, pleases in head planes with a well set & shaped eye. Played her handler up something awful on the move so threw the advantage to the merle. PGB (1) 1 Williams’ Shulune Imperial Moonlite at McClelland, another far too full of herself & unsettled on the move. S/w, good size & substance, pleasing head, eye on the full side for me, has a decent neck, is well ribbed, lacks length of upper arm but has a lovely bend of stifle & long tail. Needs ring training. LB (0). OB (1) A.
