Considering this was a working-week Monday & not a strong area for the breed, the entry was good.

PD (3,1a) 1 Norman & Ratcliffe’s beautifully presented homebred s/w of 8 months, lovely eye & sweet but masculine expression, good ears, skull & mouldings, good reach of neck, good straight legs, good feet, very good stifle & inner thigh, super temperament & attitude, good overall construction but needs to tighten up in front as at times he appeared to ‘swing’ his front legs on the move. Should have a bright future. BP; 2 Page’s Norfield Oh What A Knight, 10 months s/w, pleasing head, eye & expression, good overall make & shape, good legs, well developed thigh, very good temperament, indeed too much as he was far too playful on the move. A little training & roadwork could stamp that out. JD (2,1) N Oh What A Night. PGD (1) Moore’s Manordeifi Storm Breaker, sired by Moon Walker whom I had the pleasure of awarding a CC & this most attractive homebred tri has inherited much of his quality. Now coming in to his own, has plenty of appeal, balanced head, good ears, good eye & expression, straight legs, good length of back, good rear angulation, moved out very well with good side extension. LD (3,1) 1 Hyde’s Foxearth Following On, what a lovely tri, oozing quality. Unfortunately he didn’t match that quality in showmanship as he was not in the least happy. The fact I was informed his handler was unwell explains everything for the dog’s temperament is sound & I have seen him on his toes before. Clearly feeling for his owner who I hope is on the mend. It is no consolation for him to know that, had the dog been on top form, could well have had top spot. Most appealing lad with super head, correct ears, very good stop, lovely eye, his expression rather doleful on the day, very good neck, super construction, very good shoulder, straight legs, very good feet, good rear angulation & stifle, lovely soft nature, a pleasure to watch on the move with excellent side extension, only equalled by the BOB; 2 Moore’s Manordeifi Solar Eclipse, homebred tri approaching veteran stage but looking as youthful as ever, pleasing head, kind eye & expression, good neck, well covered in coat of correct texture, good length of back. Not as positive on move as 1. OD (4) 1 Lister’s Australian import, Ch Eridor Im Mr Blu at Newarp, b/m sired by owner’s ch export, dog on very good run, all-male lad in best of order, appealing head of good quality, good skull & muzzle, pleasing eye & expression but at times looking a little doleful, though when handler gets attention, becomes most alert & endearing. Very strong neck, good legs & feet, in good coat of correct texture, good overall make & shape which he makes the best of when responding to handler, this dog’s forte is his rear construction which enables good thrust to power round ring. Gave him RCC two years ago so pleased to award him the big one this time. CC, but in the challenge, could not match bitch’s driving movement or verve; 2 Forbes’ Ch Int/Ir Ch Pelghart Paint It Black at Willowhurst, at nearly 4 years this tri is at his best, awarded him CACIB & BOB in Belgium last autumn which gave him his International title & has been on a good run since. Masculine head, alert ears, attentive eye & expression, strong neck, in good order, jet black coat of correct texture with good white markings, well covered & in hardy condition, good strong bone & plenty of muscle, strong legs & good feet, good length of back, moved well though have seen him show better animation. RCC; 3 Davis’ Sharidon Anything Goes at Keenacre.

PB (3) A totally mixed bag of pups who all need to tighten up as all wings & legs with movement to match. 1 Wallis’ Norfield Scarlet Rose, homebred s/w approaching 11 months, very feminine, pleasing though rather narrow head, eye & expression, good colour, well presented coat of correct texture enhanced by full white shawl. Needs to fill out & develop chest. Very sweet temperament, well handled; 2 Giddings’ All That Jazz at Ryecombe, very playful tri, litter sister to BP, sweet eye & expression, beautifully presented in jet black coat & lily-white furnishings, looked good standing, good length of back. Far too playful on move but good attitude; 3 Coates’ Alopex Blue Moon, at 6 months & a week, by far the baby, b/m of good make & shape but needs to pull out. Beautiful colour, lovely temperament, pleasing head, eye & expression, considerately handled. JB (2,1) 1 N Scarlet Rose. GB (1) 1 Manordeifi Penny Blue, homebred & as name suggests, b/m, most feminine lady, pleasing head, eye & expression, dark eyes which enhances expression on merles, good muzzle, good overall construction, good length of back, strong at rear, good bend of stifle & well muscled inner thigh, effortless on the move, nice attitude & very attentive. PGB (1) Griffiths’ Alopex Fine Provenance, homebred tri by Moon Walker. Provenance: ‘a record of ownership of a work or art or an antique’. Well, at nearly 4 she’s hardly an antique but as a record of ownership, full marks for she is of the most lovely colour presented in tip-top condition in coat of correct texture with beautiful whites, looked a picture standing, most appealing balanced head, lovely eye & expression with correct ears, good neck very good shoulder & like all this kennel’s exhibits, superbly fit. A very sweet girl with lovely attitude & very well handled. Though a very positive mover, has this most peculiar action when starting off, like an athletic sprinter who moves his feet so wide when leaving the blocks. However, once in her stride, was most positive in action. Strange but effective. LB (5,1) Very good class with little to choose between first three. 1 Moores’ Manordeifi Silvadora, full homebred sister to PGD winner, most feminine b/m with kindly marked head, ultra feminine eye & expression, very good eyes, balanced head, good muzzle, good overall construction, good depth of chest & length of back &, like all this kennel’s exhibits, good long tail, in very good coat of correct texture, good stifle & hocks, well muscled thigh, bitch with attitude, very sound on the move, both coming, going & sideways; 2 Gay’s Manordeifi Sapphire Mist at Yagane, full sister to 1 with all her feminine attributes & quality, turned out in best of order, much on her toes, very good tan markings, most sweetest of eye & expression, good straight legs, length of back & obligatory long tail from breeders’ kennel, very good rear angulation, very sound on the move, particularly side gait; 3 Griffiths’ Alopex Out Of The Blue. OB (4,1) quality class but oh, so different for type. 1 Sewell’s Ch Foxearth Farris via Lewarne, love this 6½ years tri who, when she puts her mind to it, is more like a puppy. One of those who either does put it all in or doesn’t. Well, today she was on her toes. Not a sign of coarseness or greying, in the pink of condition, most ultra-feminine bitch who, on her day, oozes charisma, lovely head to handle, most gorgeous eye & expression, very good ears, good stop, good muzzle & mouldings, flat skull, strong neck, very good overall conformation, good depth of chest, plenty of heartroom, good length of back, long tail, strong straight legs, good bend of stifle, well developed thigh muscles, strong short hocks, a super fit girl & it showed on the move, moved with authority with good side extension, well handled. CC, in the challenge was so more effective on the move than the dog & pulled out all the stops for a deserving BOB. Represented the breed well in the group; 2 Devern Fate A Compli, most feminine homebred tri whose jet black coat dazzled, despite the drizzle, gleaming whites which made her a real eyecatcher, has improved with age, as when younger could never make my mind up about her. Such a sweet eye & expression, & lovely attitude, clearly dotes on her handler, very good ears, balanced head, good stop, good reach of neck, good overall condition with very good backend, very easy on the move; 3 Moores’ Manordeifi Scheherazade. Team Moores’ Manordeifis, lovely foursome, all very much on the ball & all sound on the move, pleasure to watch them going round together. A team, I understand, who has won this award on a lot of occasions.
