I would like to thank the officers and committee for inviting me to judge at their show. t he organisation and smooth running of the show along with superb hospitality, made my appointment a lovely day to remember. I was pleased with the entry and quality in the higher classes, but must say i found movement on the whole disappointing, which surprised me as in our breed it has always been one of the stronger points. Size is another point to be watched, many were fine boned and lacked substance. DCC and BOS was Evans' Southcombe Sunset s hadow. A very handsome shaded sable/white who stood out for overall balance. c lean head, flat skull with correct ear and eye placement, showing the desired expression. Well arched neck with good crest set into well laid shoulders, level back and correct slight rise over loin. Well sprung ribs, deep chest and well angulated hindquarters, strong hocks and good feet. Coat of excellent texture and colour. He moved with purpose showing a free and easy stride he reminds me of smooths as they used to be. A well deserved CC. Res CC, Wallis' Freejack First k night at n orfield. JW. This is an up and coming young tri for the future, as he is not yet 2 years old, but showing so much quality, I feel sure he will go on to far greater wins. Head of good pattern, sweet eye and expression, well placed ears which he used to his advantage. Strong neck, good layback of shoulder and ribs well sprung. Well muscled hindquarters showing good second thigh, strong hocks and tight, well padded feet. good tailset and topline, all covered by a fantastic, harsh gleaming jet black coat. Presented and handled in tip top condition, moved with drive going around, giving hood ground cover with an easy gait. Bitch CC and BOB, Sewell's Ch Foxearth Farris Via Lewarne. This beautiful tricolour bitch is right out the top drawer. Beautifully presented in tip top condition, constructed to the standard. workmanlike yet elegant, crested neck set in an excellent layback of shoulder, body of correct length to height ratio, lovely front, good depth of chest showing plenty of heartroom. Clean and well balanced head showing a sweet yet intelligent expression, ears well used. strong hindquarters and correct tailset, harsh, well fitted jacket of good texture. moved with drive keeping a good topline, she ticked all my boxes. BOB. Res CC Robinson's Dawcher Dream Searcher. Pretty tricolour, pleasing head, well placed ears and eye placement gave correct expression. Showed a good outline both standing and on the move. Correct neck and shoulder, well sprung ribs, good hind angulation. jacket of good texture. s he moved with drive, giving good ground cover. Should have a bright future. Best p uppy, Hartley's Foxearth Silver Dream at Jimjack. 9 month old blue bitch, owner and dog need to get more in unison. v ery feminine with a lovely head type and a sweet expression, ears well placed and used. She is beautifully constructed with good angulation for all to see, she does though need to body up and fill out in foreface. h er coat is excellent both in colour and texture. When settled she did move out well, needs to be nurtured to bring out the best in her, with patience should mature up into a very nice bitch. Best Vet r obinson's Ch Southcombe Sweet As A Nut. At 7 years she is as her name implies. Still has a lovely elegance about her, a quality sable bitch with a well balanced head, lovely expression from dark, correct shaped eyes. Good reach of neck, good lay of shoulder and excellent front and depth of chest. Correct body length, strong hindquarters and moved out well. I see she is the dam of my Res BCC winner. PD (1) 1 Selley's Dawcher Dawns Shadow. This very young tricolour dog needs more ringcraft and training. h e has a clean head, good ears and a lovely expression. Good neck and body length, in excellent coat although he is mismarked on one side he does show a good outline. Needs to concentrate on getting him to move better. JD (2) Two totally different dogs. 1 e vans' Southcombe Starman. This b/m won on overall construction. He has a good head, eye and expression, strong neck and a good lay of shoulder, strong back and hindquarters. Good tailset, carried well, needs to fill in forechest and needs to tighten in front movement. Stands and shows very well. 2 French's Frendet Cotton Eye Joe. Very small and immature s/w, rather short in upperarm, short in back and over-angulated hindquarters restricted his movement. He does, though, have a lovely head pattern and a very sweet eye, perfect ear carriage. pgd (4) 1 Moore's Manordeifi Storm b reaker. Very masculine tri of lovely construction. h e has a good head pattern but I would prefer a better eye. Ears are well set and used to advantage. Good reach of neck, good lay of shoulder and well sprung ribs with strong, well muscled hindquarters. Moved out well giving good ground cover. 2 Griffiths' Alopex Skymaster Blue. Beautiful colour and harsh textured coat on this young dog. He has a clean head with flat skull and good ear placement, intelligent expression. Just needs to mature in body, he showed very well but on the move he was limping which was a great pity, hope it was nothing serious. 3 p urvey's Norfield s ilver Knight for Freejack. LD (5,1) 1 Wallis' Freejack First k night at n orfield. JW. 2 Davis' Sharidon Anything goes at Keenacre. Tri who has balanced head, clean and of good length with correct eye shape and good ear placement. Body of good construction and well muscled throughout. Moved well.. 3 Gadd's Chicnoir Ice Breaker. OD (3) 1 Evans' Southcombe Sunset s hadow. 2 Wallis' Norfield Soul Mate. Quality sable who is all male, most lovely dreamy expression, good ear placement. Well constructed throughout and in tip top condition. Strong neck and shoulder, good body length, well muscled hindquarters and strong hocks enabled him to move out well and with drive. head a little strong for me. 3 Gadd's Chicnoir Best Mate. I feel I must mention this dog who pleases both in head and construction. He has such a beautiful expression, moves out well but could do with a little more body weight. Vet B (4) 1 Ch Southcombe Sweet As A Nut. 2 Speding's Ch a ntoc Fascination. At 7 and a half looks a picture of health and vitality. A credit to her her owners, head handles well with a sweet expression, well carried ears used to advantage. very elegant outline showing good hind angulation, with well let down hocks and very neat feet. Presented and handled as always so well and sound on the move. 3 Gay's Hilltarn Kiri at Yagane. Sh CM. PB (2) 1 Hartley's Foxearth Silver Dream at Jimjack. 2 g aunt's Dawcher Dawns Hope. This tri needs more ring training to get the best from her. She has a pleasing head and expression, ears are set well although one is rather light, which somewhat spoilt the overall picture. JB (1) 1 French's Frendet Nannina. Very immature sable who I feel needs more time to come together. She is very feminine in head and expression, neat ears well set. Rather loose in front and needs to show more drive on the move. PGB (4,2) 1 Evans' Dawcher Decorum at s outhcombe. Pretty tricolour, very feminine with a sweet expression, liked her length of head which was clean with correct stop and well filled foreface. Good reach of neck, well laid shoulders and a good topline, ribs well sprung and correct depth of chest. Correct bend of stifle and strong. well let down hocks enabled her to move out well giving good ground cover. 2 Purvey's Freejack A Touch of m agic. Nice head on this blue, clean and well balanced, she does have a nice expression although her ear placement could be better. Good neck and layback of shoulder, well rounded hindquarters, with good turn of stifle and well padded feet. Moved out well.
