Thanks to the exhibitors for the entry and the club for the appointment and hospitality. The breed is going through what I hope, is just a transitional period with the drop in entries at shows and the lack of quality in depth of the exhibits when considered against the last few years. The puppy entry was very pleasing, with both the puppy dog and bitch class being pleasing to judge. I hope they do not drop out over the next few months the breed needs them. Remember puppies change regularly and although they may not be instant winners, there time may come. PD (8,3) 1 & RCC MacGregor’s Rowvale River Gambler. Tri of the correct shape and size who I am sure will have a good future ahead of him. Well balanced wedged shape head with correct stop, eyes a little on the round size, correct ears that are constantly used, sable eye brows that assist in giving the collie expression. Good reach of neck, correct front and rear construction, in profile gives a well balanced picture. Harsh jacket. Moved well, as would be expected given his make up. Presented in nice condition and like every exhibit from this kennel, trained to make the most of his attributes. 2 Sewells Foxearth Flintoff for Lewarne. Sable that is still a baby in comparison to one, but has everything to grow into. Correct head, lovely eye, ears a little heavy but still plenty of time for them to come up. Well constructed through out. Took his time to settle on the move today but did get it right. 3 Forts Shulune Lord Haldir. PGD (2,1), 1 Gadds Snuggletooth Olivers Twist Via Chicnoir. Dark sable with good jacket. Lovely head and eye but very reluctant to make the most of his head attributes. Correct length to height ratio, correct construction would have preferred more bone. Moved OK. LD (2) 1) Wallis Norfield Soul Mate. Sable that in show stance really took to my eye from all angles. Good length of head that is correctly proportioned, correct placed stop, nice eye, ears of good type and well used giving real male collie expression. Good reach of neck leading to a well balanced body construction, correct front and rear angulation. Tail could be a little longer. Unfortunately disappointed on the move coming towards me which cost him in the challenge. 2 Hunters Toxteth Mediator. Tri dog that was rather nervous. He has lovely head, that is of good length and correct planes, nice eye and correctly placed stop, ears correct type, but he was a really reluctant show man. Body which was well proportioned lacked a little weight and condition. Moved ok. OD (4) 1, CC & BOB) Norman & Ratcliffes Ch Foxearth Blue Jeans Forever. Blue Merle with a good wedge shaped head that handled well, I would prefer it to be slightly longer but it is balanced with good stop, nice eye and excellent ears that he uses constantly, giving lovely masculine expression. Good strong neck leading to correct front and rear set up, good top line which he holds on the move, tail well set and carried. Good jacket. Presented in good condition and at one with his handler both standing and on the move. I had no hesitation in awarding him the top honour today. 2 Griffiths Alopex Highland Fling. Tri with super muscle condition through out, coat which he was loosing could be tighter. Nice head, stop, eye and ears which he could pull tighter. Good front and rear angulation. Moved well from every angle. Although he presents a balanced picture I would have preferred a little more length of head and body. 3 Gadds Chicnoir Best Mate PB (7, 1) 1) Whites Foxearth High Fashion. Lovely sable who is of good size, does not need to grow on much more. Head of good length and with equal planes, well placed stop, lovely eye, ears still a little heavy (but time on her side) but when lifted gives the sweetest of feminine of expressions. Lovely length of neck leading to an well proportioned body with good front and rear angulation. On the move she just needs to tighten a little. 2 MacGregors Rowvale Chasing Rainbows. B/M who presents a nice picture. Good head, eye and ears which she constantly used giving nice expression. Again good angulation with firm body presented in lovely condition. Move well. I just preferred the overall picture of one. 3 Forts Shulune Ladt Of Lorien PGB (2,1) 1) Frenches Chicnoir Olivers Dance At Frendet LB (5,1) 1 CC & BOB) Theobalds Foxearth Phoebe. Lovely blue merle to whom I awarded best puppy last time I judged and today was pleased to award her top honors. Well balanced head that was good to handle, correct stop good eye and ears that she really used, the whole along with her head marking provide a beautiful feminine expression. Good neck connecting to correct body, strong top line that she held on the move. Moved well and at one with her handler at all times. 2 Wilsons Hilltarn Jaguar from Encinas. Another good blue merle with the correct properties in head and body. Not the expression or so well covered as one and occasionally did not hold her top line. 3 Gibsons Knipes Shades of Gold for Pelghart. OB (4,1) 1) Haywards Cownbred Hot & Spicy. Sable with head of lovely length and pattern, nice eye and ears that I have known pulled tighter. Good neck, body and tail set. Moved ok if a little wide behind. Considered for top honors but today had to give way to a lady on top form and her own daughter. 2 Listers CH Newarp Jesena Moonlight Sonata. 7year old blue merle that has done the breed proud through her wins since a youngster. Today, although she is well balanced and has other attributes, I preferred the longer head and body of one.
