Arriving at a show to find that you have a substitute judge is never ideal! Thanks to all exhibitors for the sporting way in which they accepted my decisions. Judge elect Penny Sewell would have been thrilled with the quality of this entry – we all wish her a speedy recovery. PD (3) 1. Hindes’ Chicnoir Ice Master. Smallish blue merle dog whose colour could be lighter to advantage but coat is of correct texture. Correctly balanced head with clean stop. Eyes are well set if a little small for me. Ears are correctly placed and used well. Well angulated front and rear, good length of back, balanced for size. Well handled and moved truly. 2. Maxwell & Robinson’s Foxearth Flyin Scotsman to Aintshe. Bigger sable and white dog who needs more time to grow into himself. Having said that he has good bone and body for his size. His head needs to settle yet needing to fill in backskull, ears a little heavy. Would prefer a better shaped and darker eye. Has excellent conformation but needs to settle on the move. Outdoor shows may suit him better in this respect. JD (2) 1. Hayward’s’ Foxearth Hi Falutin. Stunning s/w youngster who fills the eye. Conformtion is outstanding with a super reach of neck, good shoulders and chest. Well boned legs and neat feet. Good length of back with super bend of stifle and hocks well let down. Long tail carried well. His head is well balanced with a clean, moulded foreface and flat backskull. Nice expression thanks to his correctly placed stop, well placed eye and well used ears. Must surely get his title. CC and BOS. 2. C Ice Master. PGD (2) 1. Hindes’ Chicnoir Best Mate. Very pleasing s/w. Well made with a super reach of neck, deep chest, shoulder could be better. Good bone for his size. Good length of back, good rear angulation but falls away slightly over the loin. Good head pattern with clean stop, well placed and used ears. Eye too round and light for me. Moved very well. 2. Hunter’s Toxteth Mediator. Unhappy tri who has a pleasing head but steadfastly refused to show off his virtues. Needing more body and condition. LD (2) 1. Hindes Chicnoir Quartermaster. Another very nice s/w from this kennel. Very well made with good front and rear angulation. Super reach of neck and good length of back. Carrying too much weight which affected his topline. Good chest and ample bone. Well balanced head with flat backskull but foreface needing to fill in. Would prefer a better shaped eye. Moved very well. 2. T. Mediator. OD (3) A very strong class. 1. Norman’s Foxearth Flash Past. A very impressive young s/w dog whom I recently made Smooth Pup of the Year. Excelling in overall breed type he is certain to make up although at still only 26 months old he is nowhere near his best yet. Well balanced, with super reach of neck, good length of back and long tail. Good front, chest and bone. Well angulated behind. Head is classical in type with parallel planes, correctly placed stop and flat backskull. Ears correctly placed and well used. His eye is nicely shaped and placed but expression could be sweeter. Considered him very strongly for the CC today but the eventual winner scored over him in shoulder, foreface and pasterns. Took some time to get into his stride when moving – should excel at the outdoor shows. 2. Griffiths’ Alopex Going Equipped. Well made b/m of good colour. Super reach of neck leading into deep chest and well angulated forehand. Correct length of back, good bend of stifle and long tail. Super reach of neck. Head of good type with moulded foreface and flat backskull. Clean stop. Eye too round for me. Moved effortlessly. 3. Tuck’s Dark Motif from Misstoff. PB (2) Two super future prospects although both very raw at present. 1. MacGregor’s Foxearth Flaunt it for Rowvale. Exciting b/m of exquisite colour and ultra feminine. Lovely shape and size. Sweetest of expressions with dark, almond shaped eye and well set and used ears. Super reach of neck with good shoulders, length of back and good rear angulation. Moved and showed so well for a baby. A real sweetheart and one that will do a lot of winning. Best Puppy. 2. Griffiths’ Alopex Confetti Blue. Not quite so confident as Flaunt It but so sound when she decided to go. Good head pattern with dark eye, good stop, ears well placed. Lovely reach of neck and well angulated fore and aft. Good length of back and elegant outline. Good colour, coat a little long around her collar. Very promising. JB (2) 1. Moores’ Manordeifi Scherezade. Soundly moving s/w with pleasing head and expression. Good reach of neck and length of back. Good bone for size. Not very settled today. PGB (4) A strong class. 1. Gibson’s Pelghart Private Dancer. Very typical tri with pleasing head, correct stop and expression. Sweet, dark eye and well placed and used ears. Good reach of neck, lovely shoulders and rear angulation. Good depth of brisket but could be a touch longer in back. Harsh, black jacket and long tail. Moved very well indeed. 2. Hayward’s Foxearth Snowflake. A first outing for this rather heavily marked b/m but her blue really is blue! Stunning head with parallel planes, sweetest of expressions. Lovely reach of neck and good shoulders. Good length of back but rather tucked up. Feet could be tighter. Moved OK but needing more confidence. 3. Moores’ Manordeifi Silver Dawn JW. LB (5) 1. Gibson’s Knipes Shades of Gold for Pelghart. Very feminine s/w with good head type and sweet expression. Clean in stop, flat backskull and sweet dark eye. Ears well placed and used. Good reach of neck and good shoulders. Nice deep brisket and good length of back, although her topline tends to sag. Well turned quarters with hocks well let down. Long tail. Moved effortlessly. Res CC. 2. Speding’s Antoc Fascination. Very sound tri with a super head type and sweet expression. Good reach of neck with lovely shoulders. Good depth of brisket but rather tucked up and slightly long in loin. Moved very well indeed. 3. Moores’ Manordeifi Star Attraction. OB (1) 1. Hayward’s Foxearth Castles in the Sky. Alone but could win in any company. Ultra feminine s/w bitch who excels in overall breed type. Classical head type with parallel planes, correctly placed stop. Sweet, dark, almond shaped eye correctly placed; ears well placed and used giving that desired expression. Super reach of neck, good shoulders, deep chest, good legs and feet, correct length of back and rise over the loin. Good rear angulation and long tail giving an overall picture of elegance and balance. CC, BOB & RBIS.
