It was a privilege to judge the SCC Championship Show this year and I thank everyone for their support with entries and help on the day. It was a pity we had such a small area and unfortunately the floor surface had become very worn and slippery but it was a pleasure to have some very promising young Smooths at this Show, surely an encouraging sign for the breed’s future.

DOGS:

MP (3) 1 Norman’s Foxearth Flash Past. Although a very raw s/w p he has a good conformation but just needs time to mature on. He has a very balanced head, well set ears bang on top with nice eye and expression; 2 Evans’ Southcombe Sunset Shadow. More mature dark s/w who I would not want any larger at this young age. He has good bone and well made body which showed in his true movement. Head a little strong and not as clean in back skull as 1; 3 Meacham’s Southcombe Silent Wings At Zellamere.

P (3) 1 Hindes’ Chicnoir Quartermaster. 10.5 mth s/w p of good overall shape and conformation. Nice head and eye with good expression. Moved well enough to win class; 2 Kinsey’s Foxearth Twist Of Fate Of Sturtmoor. S/W with nice head pattern but needs a cleaner stop, good ears which he uses well, shown in good condition, would prefer a little more length to height. Moves well; 3 Meacham’s Southcombe Silent Wings Of Zellamere.

J (5) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Sandy Footprints. It was a pleasure to go over this exciting young S/W d with good jacket. He has a lovely balanced head, good flat back skull, super well set ears and good dark eye and expression. Well moulded foreface and underjaw. Excellent front and rear angulations and together just a good overall balanced outline. Moved well when he got into his stride especially in the challenge. I felt on the day although a youngster and still to mature he stood out enough for me to award him his first CC; 2 Griffiths’ Alopex Going Equipped. How unfortunate this young d has been up against Footprints as a p. A good size and well constructed B/M d who moved soundly. Balanced head, good foreface, well set ears which he used well. Would just prefer a darker eye. Lovely front when standing; 3 Hindes’ Chicnoir Quartermaster.

G (2) 1 Kinsey’s Foxearth Finlander Of Sturtmoor. Good clear coloured B/M, not a big d but well put together and nice body shape. Good head, showed well. Moved soundly; 2 Siddle’s Antoc Floodlight. Darker B/M with good head pattern, nice eye and flat skull. Would prefer a little more length of back to give him more overall balance.

PG (1) 1 Wallis’ Norfield Night Star. Smaller size tri d who stood alone in this class. Would prefer more length of foreface to make head better balanced. Moved ok.

ML (4) 1 Purvey’s Tanboree Jack Frost. B/M of darker colour and not a big d but good bone and overall shape. Head balanced but eye could be better. Movement a little loose in front; 2 Howell and Birtwhistle’s Sharidon Cimarron Elijah. B/M of good size, conformation and condition. Head a little deep through and lacking in underjaw. Moved ok.

L (7) 1 Kennedy’s Foxearth Fore Shore. Upstanding tri who has matured well. Balanced head, good ears and shows well. Nice size and bone. Moved well; 2 Tuck’s Dark Motif From Misstoff. Smaller sized tri shown in good condition and coat, nice ears used well. Would like a darker eye and better underjaw. He was well constructed and moved soundly; 3 Wallis’ Norfield Tin Star.

O (6) 1 Hayward’s Ch Fido Fax To Foxearth. B/M of nice size. Balanced head with good flat skull. Rounded muzzle, nice well set ears, good front and rear giving nice balance overall. Scored in better topline standing and moving than his litter brother Moonwalker. RCC; 2 Macgregor’s Ch Moon Walker From Misstoff. Well constructed tri of good size. Balanced head, shows well, shown in good condition. Moves well coming and going; 3 Howes’ Ch Rowvale Rainbow Warrior.

BITCHES:

MP (2) 1 Macgregor’s Southcombe Sophisticate. Tri, won on overall maturity although would not like her to grow on too much more. Nice shape and well constructed. Back skull needs to life. Ears were well set, shows well. Moved ok; 2 Gibson’s Pelghart Private Dancer. Another Tri although finer all over and as yet still a baby, good front and overall shape. Balanced head but muzzle needs to fill.

P (6) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Castles In The Sky. Stunning S/W b with good jacket. The most gorgeous eye and expression. Well set ears on top, good wedge head with flat skull and good stop, with good front and rear construction she like her brother had a nice balanced outline. Today she moved well and pushed the CC winner hard and just had a little extra in the challenge against her brother to win BP and Res BOB. This one I could certainly take home. RCC; 2 Hyde’s Foxearth Fondant. Another S/W although slightly more compact than her sister she is well made and nice overall shape and size. Nice head pattern but would prefer better eye. She shows herself off so well and moves so soundly; 3 Purvey’s Chicnoir Hors-La-Loi-iii.

J (6) 1 Curtis’ Snuggletooth Flurry’s Filly. Young tri b maturing but there stood and showed so well and asked for the top award. Although not a big girl she is well put together and everything is in proportion. Good wedge head, well set ears and nice dark eye and expression. Moved effortlessly and looked good in the challenge. Well done to her owner for making up such a young Champion. CC BOB BIS; 2 Hyde’s Foxearth Future Magic. Another nice S/W b unlucky to meet 1 today. Overall good balanced size and shape, nice clean head with nice eye and good ears. Not quite settled today but moved out well; 3 Griffiths’ Alopex Plum Lush.

N (2) 1 Purvey’s Chicnoir Hors-La-Loi-iii. Third in Puppy. Tri still needs time to mature. B of smaller size, nice head but needs to fill in foreface; 2 Wallis’ Chicnoir Uptown Girl At Norfield. Fourth in p. Shaded S/W although smaller size, nice overall shape and head needs to clear in stop. Steady mover.

G (4) 1 McKendrick’s Hilltarn High Tide At Wesanya. Tri, won this class on overall better outline. Nice head, ears well used, good front and moved soundly; 2 Hamilton’s Alopex Lilliburlero. Although reluctant showgirl she has a good head pattern but a darker eye would improve. Moved well.

PG (5) 1 A Lilliburlero; 2 Meacham’s Rowvale Ring O Roses At Zellamere. S/W who needs more condition but moved soundly enough. She has a refined muzzle and I would prefer a darker and better shaped eye; 3 Wery’s Dancerwood Shady Lady With Luvies.

ML (3) 1 Robinson’s Hilltarn Highlights. B/M with good front and rear but would like a little less height. She had good wedge head and eye shape, good ears which she used well, good construction. She moved soundly; 2 Hindes’ Fascinating Rhythm From Chicnoir. Another B/M of nice balanced shape, nice head pattern, eye and well set ears, let down by her front.

L (5) 1 Gibson’s Knipes Shades Of Gold For Pelghart. Golden S/W. Good sized b with nice jacket. Wedge head, nice ears but eye could be sweeter. Well angulated front and rear. Moved well but tail carried a little high; 2 Wilson’s Hilltarn Captivating For Salotone. Pretty headed B/M. Shows well, nice front but not the topline of 1. Moved well.

O (5) 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Finesse At Sandwick. B/M with balanced head, ears well set, good eye. Good front, nice neck and overall shape was correct. Moved well; 2 Griffiths’ Alopex Silverstone. B/M slightly bigger in size but in proportion, therefore nice outline shape. Flat skull, nice dark eye. Shows to advantage and moves soundly; 3 Wilson’s Hilltarn Jaguar From Encinas.

V (4) Two of my favourite girls here. 1 Hayward’s Ch Foxearth Playing With Fire. Tri with classic head, lovely dark eye and expression, stood and showed well today. I loved her balanced outline and size. Well constructed and moved ok; 2 Gibson’s Ch Newtons Guinivere From Foxearth. Another really nice tri who certainly loves the showring. She also has a good head, eye and expression. Not a lot to choose between them but Guinivere was not as positive with front movement as 1; 3 Goodridge’s Alopex Royal Mint At Russfield. SP O SABLE and W 1 Hindes’ Chicnoir Quatermaster; 2 Wallis’ Chicnoir Uptown Girl At Norfield. SP O TRI 1 Kennedy’s Foxearth Fore Shore; 2 McKendrick’s Hilltarn High Tide At Wesanya; 3 Purvey’s Chicnoir Hors-La-Loi-iii. SO B/MERLE 1 Howes’ Ch Rowvale Rainbow Warrior; 2 Kinsey’s Foxearth Finlander Of Sturtmoor; 3 Leach’s Hilltarn Hopeful. BRACE 1 Griffiths’ well matched B/M mother and son who moved confidently together; 2 Gibson’s; 3 Hindes. AV SMOOTH or ROUGH COLLIE: S MH C ST: OD 1 Hayward’s Foxearth Sandy Footprints; 2 Hayward’s Ch Fido Fax To Foxearth; 3 Tuck’s Dark Motif From Misstoff.
