SMOOTH – My thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge the Smooth Collies. The West of England Collie Society shows are always a pleasure to attend, & we were able to complete the judging outside before the rain came. Although there were a lot of absentees I was very happy with my winners & was delighted when my co-judge liked my BOB & agreed that she should be BIS.
VD (0). PD (4,2a) 1 Musty’s Shulune Imperial Gift for Buebezi, tri with good quality bone, lovely temperament, well filled foreface, needs to flatten in skull, correct shoulder placement & rear angulation. Moved well with drive. BPD; 2 Benton’s Oakestelle Sebastion Bach, tri, smaller than 1 & lacked his substance. Good length of neck, level topline & correct bend of stifle, well let down hocks. Head needs to fill out & lacks underjaw. YD (1) 1 Denton’s Ryecombe Jaffa Jake, tri with well rounded foreface, good ear & eye placement giving a lovely expression. Balanced dog, correct height to length ratio with good length of neck, good shoulder placement & depth of chest, level topline, well set tail, moved well. BD. PGD (1) 1 Gay’s Yagane’s Top Hat N Tails, tri with an attractive head which needs to fill in foreface & ears rather heavy. Lovely arched neck, level topline, well constructed, good tailset, moved OK. Needs time to mature. RBD. OD (2) A.
VB (1) A. PB (2,1) 1 Peacock’s Blamorder Back To The Start, tri of 6 months who thoroughly enjoyed her day out. Well filled foreface, correct stop, well placed almond eye, needs to flatten in skull, arched neck of excellent length, well angulated shoulder & upper arm, good depth of chest, level topline, good ben of stifle with well let down hocks, good quality bone, moved well for her age. BPB, BP. YB (3,1) 1 Sweeney’s Foxearth Fine Beauty, b/m of lovely colour & in super condition. Well placed eyes & ears giving a nice expression, would like more stop, arched neck, good shoulders & topline with well set tail & excellent bend of stifle. Moved very well. I wish she was a bit bigger; 2 Moores’ Tomalca Buttons’n Bows at Manordeifi, s/w. Head needs to fill out, good length of neck, balanced but doesn’t make the best of herself, lacked substance. PGB (2) 1 Gay’s Yagane’s Lavender Mist, quality b/m whose colour needs to clear. Wedge head, rounded foreface, correct stop & flat skull, well placed eyes & ears giving the desired expression. Well placed shoulder & upper arm, level topline, well set tail, lovely bend of stifle & well let down hocks. She is a lovely mover covering the ground with drive, a pleasure to watch. Is maturing into a lovely bitch who will continue to improve. BB, BOB, BIS; 2 Moores’ Manordeifi Silver Dazzler, another b/m, one I have always liked but not making the best of herself today. Good head pattern & well constructed, but not moving as well as I know she can today. OB (5,3) 1 Norman’s Ryecombe Drama Queen, s/w. Desired wedge head but lacked stop, well placed almond eye, flat skull, lovely arched neck, well placed shoulders & lovely depth of chest, long correctly set tail. A shapely bitch who moved well. RBB; 2 Moores’ Manordeifi Silver Sparkle, b/m, well filled foreface, flat skull, rather heavy ears which detracted from her expression. Lovely shoulder & upper arm, good depth of chest. Carrying a bit too much weight which showed in her movement.
