The Smooth Collie Club Of Great Britain Open show Sun 1st June 2014 :- An honour and a pleasure for me to judge at this friendly well organised event! the weather certainly helped. A lovely entry of 51 dogs 12 absent leaving 39 hands on, this entry was a quality entry with 6 champions present! Limit bitch + Open bitch quality right down the line. Has an outsider movement and conformation is extremely important to me, yes I like a nice head but breed type shape and that all important action comes first all pastoral + working breeds must still be able to do the job they were originally bred to do! sometimes the ones that instantly took my eye and looked the winner didn't have the movement I was looking for. Its a breed I love and have watched for many years and I do think in the last decade the breed has come on really well. I was helped by 2 first class stewards, a huge ring gave everyone the chance to move their dogs to the best advantage, I was well pleased to be told later my best dog and bitch were litter mates.      MPD (1) 1st Trundley, Blamorder Back To The Future, B/M quality baby ,developing along the right lines! pleasing head ex bite, eye could be a fraction darker, he has a lovely outline and very good neck well arched. muscular thighs well bend stifles, his action was smooth easy and free, obviously some work had been put into this baby he was confident I Thought he shows lots of promise. PD (4) all present 1st Best Puppy and Res Dog. Musty, Shulune Imperial Gift Buebezi, Ch Bred and looked it  a lovely breed type and quality Tri. His outline shouted collie. ex reach of neck, lovely head expression ex bite. ex body qualities back firm and level with that slight rise over the loins, deep chest I thought he had exceptionally good quarters, still needs to fill out a little in front that he will do that!  he  is young and still developing  and perhaps a fraction short in upper-arm . I am not a fault judge and the overall package certainly impressed, I think he shows huge promise , his action was smooth light and with very little effort. alround a top class young male. 2nd Blamorder Back To The Future (reported) 3rd French, Breckamore Blushing Groom. JD (3) 1 W/D 1st French, Breckmore Blushing Groom 3rd in puppy, sable lots to like deep chest , pleasing head, not quite the shoulder angles I want and this did come through with his front movement. Nov D (3) 1st Best Puppy (reported) 2nd Benton+Woods, Oakestelle Vivaldi, PGD 1st Czyzak, Cuba Libre Smooth Drinks (imp Pol). very intresting sable, strong masculine head and expression ,good eye ex bite, good reach of neck , well arched, happy temperament ex body qualities , little higher on the leg than most my winners ,he looks balanced in body . strong backline good mover, covers the ground with little effort, ex tail length but then all but 2 had tails reaching to at least the hock joint. 2nd Kenndy, Ryecombe Deb"N Air. sable with a lovely head type different again from winner, lots of quality but not the front angulation of one , even so I did like this boy and he also has sound easy action. LD (2) 1st Denton, Ryecombe Jaffa Cake,Tri of quality, liked the breed type and he is very typical in outline, lovely head expression good bite, good neck very pleasing shoulders and straight front. ex bone, deep chest and tight elbows. easy action and the better mover of the 2 nice strength on those hock joints. 2nd Leach, Manordeifi Dionysus at Hilltarn, B/M quality male, his shape appealed pleasing head, teeth could be cleaner! enough neck and good body deep chest strong backline pleasing quarters but not the action of winner. OD (3) 1st Best Male, Hutchings, CH Collidach Molloney Ta Tu You. Tri looks the Champion he his! ex breed type overall shape and balance, lovely head eye and bite, ex neck lenth well arched strong backline giving a lovely profile well angulated back and front this resulting in powerful reach and drive, long stride totally effortless the heat didn't bother him one bit, I was please to be told he is brother to my best bitch +BIS what a lovely pair to own. 2nd White, CH Foxearth Frappuccino, another Tri that looked a Champion lots of quality and breed type , he wasn't going with quite the freedom of one I think he felt the heat more! having said that he to is a lovely male. VD (5) all present! 1st and best Veteran, Howells, CH Manordeifi Smart Guy at Southcombe, amazing 11 year old sable  , You ask for a dog to stand with dignity and perfect anatomical formation, giving the appearance of working capability! well this handsome male was just that instantly caught my eye. such a handsome head with ear set just about right. ex bite for his age. I can tell you the heat didn't bother him one bit went up and down that ring like a 2 year old. to say I was impressed is an under statement loved him. yes he may have broadened a little in his waist line at 11 you surely can forgive that! would love to have seen him in his prime. 2nd ( and the only dog I new in this entry  a big winner ) Listers, CH Eridor Im Blu At Newarp (imp) B/M different in breed type and he is a quality dog, I just find him boardering on being  a little cloddiness in appearance  just too much front substance. I am well aware you want a deep chest and the dog to be fairly broad behind the shoulders, but for my eye this is too much. He was in superb condition  and his movement is very pleasing to the eye.  3rd Griffiths, Alopex Matt Finnish. MPB (2) 1st Peacock, Blamorder Back To The Start, 8 month Tri, thought this baby very nice liked the head ear set good bite feminine expression enough neck good shoulders and straight front, correct feet strong backline and very pleasing quarters ex strength on those hocks giving good thrust, shows lots of promise. 2nd Brown, Blamorder Back In Town, another Tri of quality, pleasing overall shape and balance .not the action of my winner. PB (2) 1st , Benton, Oakestelle Venus De Milo, homebred B/M shown to win a lovely quality girl with real ring presence, a born showgirl and Oh that free easy action was always going to impress my eye. lovely head expression good eye and bite. ex neck fitting into correct shoulders and clean straight front, lovely body shape and strong rear ,well bent stifles, light free effortless movement , should enjoy a lovely future in the breed , certainly appealed to me. BOS Puppy and so close to that impressive male pup. 2nd Glovers, Oakestelle Indie Rock At Stormsett, Tri very nice girl! quality and breed type to please.  shapely but couldn't match the freedom of movement of one but this girl is totally sound .JB ( 3) all absent. NB (3) 1st P B winner (reported) 2nd  Rice, Kevranna Theras Yonder Gaze, sable, nice girl pleases for head type , looks quality and she is sound not the movement of winner. 3rd Woodstocks, Kangasvuokon Valentine At Hylaird (imp Fin ). PGB (5) 1st French, Foxearth Finger Print, sable instantly took my eye for her breed type shape and balance, loved that head, good ear set, feminine just a little more neck and she would have pushed even harder in the challenge, sound easy action a comfortable winner of this class, 2nd Beeney, Ryecombe Jolly Jonquil At Coneypark, sable quality girl. shapely pleasing head ex bite good eye, free sound action I just preferred the overall balance of winner.3rd Moores, Tomalca Buttons N Bows At Manordeifi. Limit B (10) 1st Res Best Bitch, Denton, Kevranna Theras Enate Echo, sable, Oh I was instantly attracted to this girl, the outline I was looking for, lovely feminine head ears bang on ex expression, this well arched neck of fair lenth and that shapely body gave her real ring presence. just as good on the move, I was so impressed I also gave her Res BOB over the Champion male, surely ticket quality. 2nd Howard+Smith, Jack Macks Hefin Huw (imp Deu). B/M different again in breed type but I really liked this girl typey quality and balanced with good movement about sumes her up one I would expect to do very well in the breed this was an excellent class with quality right down the line. 3rd  Campell, Ryecombe Dolly Mixture. OB (5) 1st BOB Hutchings, Collidach Molloney Fay Mouse SH CM  this high quality B/M is on 2 CCs and some Res CCs I am told and I would expect her to finish her title with ease, that movement will always impress, shown to win pleasing head, ex bite enough neck and balanced in body shape her shoulder angles and hind quarters produce such lovely easy movement, a lovely girl but she was pushed all the way by the limit winner. 2nd Sewell, CH Foxearth Dressed to Frill Tri, and she was my winner on the first look .looks the Champion she is and her head appealed to me the most! but she didn't like the heat and as a result didn't move with the freedom or enthusiasm of one. judging is about on the day.3rd Listers, Manordeifi Miss Daisy Newarp JW. VB (3) 1st Griffiths, CH Alopex Out Of The Blue, turned 8 and no surprize to see her titled! Top class B/M  of lovely breed type shape and overall balance .feminine and easy on the eye when she moves, in superb body  and coat and a huge credit to her owner. loved her. BRACE (2) 1st Miss Benton 2nd Ms French
