Apart from a chilly wind, it was a beautiful day just right for the dogs.

A great diversity of type has crept into the breed & this makes it difficult to get a consistent line up. I was pleased with the entry overall & had the pleasure of judging some very nice Rough Collies.

I would like to thank the officers & committee for the invitation & for their wonderful hospitality on the day, also the exhibitors for the entry & sporting acceptance of their placings. There were some very promising youngsters so this bodes well for the future of the breed, but for me the Veterans turned out to be the stars of the day.

BIS was the Smooth, Ch Eridor I’ m Mr Blue at Newarp, this handsome b/m never puts a foot wrong & at 9 years is in fantastic condition & a credit to his owner. His head is so well balanced & he has such as beautiful expression coming from correct eye & ear placement, add to this a good reach of neck, good shoulder, well sprung ribs, good topline. Tail set well in to strong well muscled hindquarters showing a good second thigh. Strong hocks & tight well padded feet enabled him to cover the ground with ease he was also BVIS;

SMOOTHS – J (4,2) 1 & 2 are litter brother & sister. Both tri’s with good harsh jackets. I was disappointed with the overall quality of both these puppies as they need to fill in foreface & to flatten out in back skull so hope this will happen, both need to be bigger in stature & have better bone. But they were happy puppies, really well behaved enjoying an outing, but at the moment they are raw. OD 1 Ch Eridor Mr Blue at N. BIS; 2 Griffiths' Alopex Matt Finnish, clean head & lovely expression, good ear placement, good neck & shoulder. Overall good body shape he moves & shows well. He has a lovely tight jacket gleaming with health. OB (3,1) 1 Lister’s Manordeifi Miss Daisy at Newarp, I judged this lovely bitch as a puppy & she has matured into a very smart lady. She has good head properties & lovely eye shape. Excellent reach of neck & good layback of shoulder. Well sprung ribs, good depth of chest, excellent hindquarters so well muscled. Moved out effortlessly. BB; 2 Howard & Smith’s Jack Macks Hefin Huw, very feminine blue bitch, has a lovely head & expression, excellent neck & shoulders, correct length to height ratio, in super condition, jacket harsh to the touch but colour needs to clear.
