Judge Sue Bird

Thank you for the invitation to judge Smooth Collies at this lovely show. The weather was good & this enabled judging to be done outside. I was very pleased with the Smooth Collie going BIS on the referee's decision with the Veteran dog going BOS in Show. P (1) 1 Griffiths: Foxearth Furore, 8mths old. Steady confident young female, good head proportions with correct bite, eyes obliquely set & good ear carriage. Strong neck & well laid shoulders. Good length of back & depth of chest. Strong over loin with well-muscled hindquarters. Moved out well. BP & RBPIS. J (3,1) 1 Griffiths: Foxearth Furore, winner of puppy. 2 Musty & Hills Double Indemnity, finer in body than 1st & not as confident. Needs more handling. PG (2,1) 1 Leach's Manordeifi Dionysus At Hilltarn. 2 yr old male, maturing well, good blunt wedge shape head & almond shaped eyes. Correct bite. Shoulders well placed & good length of back, well-muscled back end with good bend of stifle. Harsh coat. Steady on move. L (3,1) 1 Robinson's Southcombe Summer Special At Dawcher, 2 yr. old bitch, lovely blunt wedge shape head with eyes obliquely set, ears alert at all times very attentive, nice arch of neck on well laid shoulders good depth of chest with good length of back & firm over the loin, well-muscled hindquarters & hocks well let down. Harsh coat. Her movement was best I saw all day & she could have gone all day. A worthy BOB & eventual BIS winner. 2 Rice's Kingrock Adriel For Kevranna, slightly longer in body & foreface than 1st, just preferred 1st balance. But this young lady moved out well. OD (1) 1 Griffiths Alopex Matt Finnish. Nice head & expression, good eye shape, correct bite, strong neck & well laid shoulders good length of back & well-muscled hindquarters. OB (3,1) 1 Lister's Manordiefi Miss Daisy At Newarp JW. Nice shape head with almond eye, good ear carriage & correct bite, nice arch of neck, shoulders well laid back with good depth of chest, strong firm top line & well-muscled hindquarters, enabled effortless movement. 2 Benton's Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle, judged this bitch before & like her very much. But today just not in the condition of 1st. Although her movement was lovely. V (3,1) 1 Lister's Ch. Eridor Im Mr Blu At Newarp (imp Aus) 8 yr. male in excellent condition. Very masculine. Good strong blunt wedge shaped head, eyes set obliquely of correct shape, ears alert all the time. Correct bite. Strong neck & good shoulder placement with good depth of chest. Strong firm topline & length of back, well-muscled hindquarters & hocks well let down, movement was steady & effortless. BD, In challenge just not the reach of the bitch. BOS & BVIS. 2 Robinson's Southcombe She's The One (TAF) 9.5 yr. bitch, in very good condition for her age, but just preferred 1st movement.
