I felt very
honoured to have been invited to judge at this very prestigious show with a
wonderful entry, chock full of quality, charming characters, all such very good
sound movers and so obviously fit for purpose. I enjoyed every moment, made
even better by the extraordinarily kind, generous hospitality of the committee
together with the efficiency and good humour of my steward, David Gordon.
VD/B (5, 3) A great thrill to start the day, both blue merles
out of the top drawer. It would have been easier to have had two first placings!
1 Lister's Ch Eridor Im Mr. Blue at Newarp (Imp Aus). Most impressive, well
balanced masculine dog with good length of neck and firmly padded feet, so well
made all through with good angulation of shoulders and hindquarters, this being
reflected in the excellence of his movement. He looked as if he could have gone
all day with no trouble at all. BV and later I was thrilled to see BVIS under
Ann Arch. 2 Hutchings' Ch Foxearth Fluorescence at Molloney. Charming bitch,
just as feminine as the winner was masculine, in excellent coat and the hardest
of muscular condition, a pleasure to handle with good firm body. She too moved
absolutely beautifully keeping her strong level topline. PD
(2, 1) 1 Denton's Ryecombe Jaffa Cake. Good looking Tri, so mature for his just
six months with well shaped head, lovely dark expressive eye and good pigment.
So well made all through, deep through the heart with good layback of shoulder,
firm level topline and long well carried tail. Already in excellent coat of
harsh texture, so very sound and free on the move with good extension in sidegait.
Attentive and willing, seemingly a showman to the Manor born. Most exciting.
BPD. JD (3) 1 French's Foxearth Flockmaster for Breckamore.
Impressive Tri with, dark expressive eyes, good pigment, feet, forechest and topline,
he scored on layback of shoulder and depth through the heart. A very good
mover. 2 Kennedy's Ryecombe Deb 'N Air. Very friendly, enthusiastic sable with
a very intelligent look about him and long well carried tail. He moved
particularly well behind with good drive, can still firm a touch in front. 3
Cook's Ryecombe Duncan Disorderly at Kimbru. See this sable is litter brother
to the second and just not his shoulder angulation but this one has a good topline
and depth of chest. He too was extremely friendly and obviously enjoying
himself to the full. PGD (2, 1) 1 Bott's McClelland Hot Shot.
Sable, very sound, free and positive on the move with good firm topline and
excellent feet, his marking emphasising the excellence of his layback of
shoulder. Lovely long tail and good forechest. Well shaped head and expressive
eye, in excellent coat and very hard muscular condition. RBD. LD
(3, 2) 1 Flockmaster for B. OD (3) 1 White's Ch Foxearth
Frappuccino. Gorgeous masculine Tri dog, full of himself and his own
importance, really projected himself both standing and on the move. High
quality, beautiful head with a most intelligent expression, so well made all
through, firm on elbow with good angulation of shoulder and stifles, long tail
and excellent feet. Most impressive, covering ground on the move with a free
effortless stride and good drive behind. BD & RBOB. 2 Hutchings' Collidach
Molloney Ta Tu You. Tri with good firm topline and decent layback of shoulder,
well shaped head, good topline and depth of chest, in excellent coat and hard
muscular condition. Very enthusiastic on the move, driving strongly from his
hocks. 3 Flockmaster for B. PB (4, 1) 1 French's Finnish Touch
for Breckamore. Tri with well shaped head, dark eyes, so beautifully made all
through with good layback of shoulder and long tail. Very sound, free and
impressive on the move. Just scored on substance and obvious maturity to go BP.
2 Beeney's Ryecombe Jolly Jonquil at Coneypark.Well balanced sable with decent
shoulder, excelent feet and tail. She moved extremely well, keeping her level
topline. 3 Musty & Hills' Double Indemnity. Very much a baby at just six months
with a good deal of maturing and muscling up still to do. Good depth of chest,
she moved extremely well. PGB (4, 2a) These sables transpired
to be litter sisters. 1 Beeney's Kingrock Bathsheba at Coneypark. These sables
transpired to be litter sisters, both of quality with good toplines, shoulders
and feet with deep chests. This one scoring on front movement, head and ears. A
very good mover. 2 Bott's Kingrock Bethany for Bardonhill. Well balanced with a
most intelligent look about her, her ears being slightly hooded in shape. She
went very well behind. LB (5,4) 1 Lister's Manordeifi Miss
Daisy at Newarp. Feminine Tri with the wow factor. She has a classic outline
and is superb for make, shape and type with no exaggerations. Lovely head, eye
and expression, excellent feet, shoulder, hindquarters, chest and forechest,
coat, condition and long well set and carried tail. She is simply a joy to
watch on the more with her effortless enduring stride, keeping her strong
topline. Quite lovely. BOB and, I was thrilled to see, later RBIS & BOS under
Ann Arch. OB (4, 1) 1 Griffiths' Ch Alopex Out of the Blue.
Beautiful blue merle, whose confirmation is quite superb with such a firm well
made front, all the parts fitting so neatly into her well balanced whole. So
feminine, lovely head and expression, in good coat and condition, the
excellence of her confirmation being merely confirmed in the soundness of her
movement. Although she did her best to hide her light under the proverbial
bushel by not always holding herself as well as she might, her excellence could
not be denied. RBB. 2 Hutchings' Collidach Molloney Fay Mouse. Charming blue
merle with dark pigment, whose obviously equally fit owner would insist on
taking her round the ring flat out. However, when she was persuaded to take her
at a normal pace, she moved quite beautifully with good length of stride,
holding her topline. Well shaped feminine head, dark eyes and well carried
ears. 3 Griffiths' Alopex Little Summer. Sable, so friendly and enthusiastic
with good depth through the heart. Lovely head and expression, she went well up
and back, just inclined to pick up her feet with excited enthusiasm at times. A
keen showgirl.
