1. RBB/RBOB/BVIS CH SOUTHCOMBE SWEET AS A NUT

It was a pleasure to judge the Smooth Collies today, the exhibits of which I found to be of high quality. PB (2) An age difference of only 5 days between these 2 young boys! 1 Tracy's Cownbred Highly Motivated. Handsome sable & white dog of 21 months. He is up to size, and in good physical condition. His body is developing well showing a muscular neck, good forequarters, well filled chest and nicely muscled hindquarters with sufficient leg bone. His head is in proportion to his size, although he lacks sweetness in expression. He moves out well, but needs to be a bit more composed in order to steady down and lower his tail carriage. A little more time and perseverance with training should help improve this. 2 Griffiths Alopex Skymaster Blue. Blue dog with nice markings. Lighter in build with a different head style to one, which appears broader, but still retains a flat skull and well filled muzzle. He has a good length of body and rise on the loin, with sufficient turn of stifle and low carried tail. More enthusiasm would have livened up his movement. L (3-2) 1 Robinsons Dawcher Dream Searcher. Three year old tri bitch with big shawl collar. Feminine head, balanced in length with flat skull, and sweet eye, but with a bit more filling in muzzle preferred. Good neck and width to chest, level back and long tail. Lower thigh is a little long, but her pasterns are short. Moved well. A daughter of Res B B. OD (3) 1 Forbes Ch Ir Ch SWEWW-08 Pelghart Paint It Black At Willowhurst. 2 Lister's Ch Eridor I'm Mr Blu At Newarp (imp Aust). No doubt these two boys have, and will change places many times in show competition. Both very masculine in outlook, and coming to their best in maturity. First, the tricolour, a firmly built dog, who is rather strong and deep through in head, but excels in a well arched muscular neck with broad shoulders, well sprung ribs, and good depth of chest. Muscular thighs, and powerful hocks which assisted good drive on the move giving the appearance of a strong working dog. Best Opp Sex. Res Best Dog was a nicely coloured Merle who is also well angulated, has a well developed body and is sound on the move. His head is a good length, with flat skull and rounded muzzle, but with more stop preferred. A nice natured boy. 3 Griffiths Alopex Matt Finish. Tri dog, 21 months, brother to Skymaster with time on his side for maturity. OB (3) 1 Robinsons Hilltarn Valentine (JW). Tricolour bitch of 5 years most dignified in appearance. Her outline is balanced with well angulated sloping shoulders, good length fore-arm and straight front with correct amount of bone. She has the correct body ratios, a firm level back, well sprung ribs, good depth of chest with well bent stifles and clean cut hocks. Her head is also correctly balanced, smooth in outline with a slight stop, medium dark brown eye, ideal ear set and carriage all helping to produce an alert and intelligent expression. Her movement is sound and straight with good reach and drive holding herself up well. Have just read in this weeks dog press (29/8) that she gained her title recently. Best Bitch & Best Of Breed. 2 Seldons Chicnoir Golden Charm At Merland. 6 years old sable with harsh textured coat. She is small in size but well made with a lovely long neck and good angulation to her stifles and hocks. Her head being high over the brow, and ears set to the side lacks the true expression. However, she moves well and is a very attentive showgirl. 3 Griffiths Alopex Confetti Blue. Merle of 4.5 yrs. Excellent colour. V (3-2) 1 Robinson's Ch Southcombe Sweet As A Nut. Sable and white bitch looking in great condition for her 7 years. Her head is wedge shaped with parallel planes and good under-jaw. Her ear carriage is correct albeit they are lightly tipped. She has a good neck and top-line with good angle of upper arm to point of chest. Good angulation to thighs and rear pasterns with correct tail set and carriage. Moves very soundly, a worthy champion. Res Best Bitch.
