SMOOTH COLLIES (No CCs) My thanks to the officers and committee for inviting me to judge this show – always a favourite of mine, with its fantastic venue and garden party atmosphere. I wish more smooth exhibitors had come to join the fun – it is the taking part that is vital to keep classes for this minority breed. Vd/b (2,1a) 1 Lister’s Ch Newarp Jesena Moonlight Sonata. In wonderful condition for her 11 years. She can still show the majority of collies how to move. I loved her size and shape – feminine but with substance. She showed her heart out in spite of the heat. Best Bitch, Res BOB, BOS. Pd/b (1, 0) 1 Forbes’ Pelghart Paint It Black At Willowhurst. Strong, powerful, upstanding tri boy. I loved his bone and substance. Super balanced conformation all through, and moved well when he concentrated – but more muscling and road work would make it outstanding. His head was balanced but needs time to fill out in foreface, and I hope his next coat is blacker. Best Puppy in Breed. JD (2, 0) 1 Lister’s Eridor Im Mr Blue At Newarp. I saw this lad as a 4 month baby in Queensland last year, and I thought he had potential. Now he is here and at 16 months that potential is beginning to be realised. This boy is wonderful! He had a well-developed body, excellent hard muscle tone, super angulation all through, and powerful reaching and driving movement. His head was balanced without any coarseness or depth. His well-shaped and placed eyes and alert ears gave him a keen and masculine expression. Top this off with perfect blue merle coloring and a shawl collar, and I think we have a major top winner. He is a very exciting prospect for this minority breed. BOB. PGD (1) 1 Forbes’ Pelghart Pied Piper of Willowhurst. Quite a contrast to his kennel mate. This tri d was in super jet black coat and well-muscled too. He was smaller all through, lacking the bone and substance of the other males. His head was well balanced and molded, with a very flat back skull and almost too much stop. His well-shaped and placed dark eyes gave him a pleasing expression. He moved with drive, but a touch close behind. Res Best Dog.
