I thank the officers and committee of the Smooth Collie Club of GB for inviting me to judge the Smooth Collies at their Anniversary Open Show. It was indeed a privilege and honour, considering the 50 year milestone in the Club’s history. Thanks for the excellent refreshments, for the presentation of the commemorative gift and not least of all to the exhibitors for their entries and sporting manner. Overall I was pleased with the quality on display. Handling and presentation was in the main very good and I did not see too many major exaggerations from the breed standard. One or two exhibits spoilt their chances with poorly set nails, movement was generally quite good and where it wasn’t it was caused by the exhibit carrying more weight than it needed to. Despite a good Rough entry, it was pleasing to see the BOB Smooth Evans’, S/w dog, Manordeifi Smart Guy at Southcombe take the BIS award and the Smooth bitch Gibson’s, Pelghart Private Dancer take the RBIS spot. BVIS was also the Smooth, French’s, Frendet Fantasia. I wish the club all the best for the next fifty years and beyond. MPD. (4). 1. Hayward’s, Foxearth Frenchy. B/w well balanced conformation. Good reach of neck. Good colour which was well broken. Clean head, neat ear carriage. Liked his masculine expression. Well boned and in good condition. Stood and showed very well. Very sound on the move. Best Smooth Puppy. 2. Purvey’s, Freejack the Highlander. Happy tri with good temperament. Nice compact but balanced shape. Good black coat. Moved well. 3. Forbes’s, Pelghart Pied Piper. PD. (4). 1. Forbes’s, Shulune Lord of Ladros. A well sized s/w in good coat and condition. Well balanced conformation. Good bone. Clean head with correct ears. Good balanced body shape but he needs to watch his weight as he was sluggish on the move. 3. Forbes’s, Pelghart Pied Piper. JD. (2). 1. Norman and Ratcliffe’s, Foxearth Blue Jeans Forever. B/m of good size. In good coat and condition. Nice clean head when handled. Good colour. Showed well and can move properly when controlled. 2. Forbes’s, Shulune Lord of Ladros. ND. (5). 1.
