It was a great pleasure to judge this breed - though a nice entry was marred by absentees, perhaps due to the weather. The exhibits presented were all of a very high standard and their owners/exhibitors are to be congratulated on the condition and presentation of their dogs. I feel that the Smooth Collie has improved considerably in the last few years and I hope it will continue to do so. PD (2) 1 Hayward's Foxearth High Falutin. A 9 month sable and white of excellent type. He has a good outline from a good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and level topline. Good ribcage and plenty of bone. Very sound in movement. Most pleasing head, eye and expression. Very promising. Best Puppy and Best Dog. JD Repeat. PGD 1 Hayward's Foxearth Darsign Sky Dancer. Blue merle and still a puppy at 9 and a half months. Pleasing outline, good head, eye and expression. Needs to settle in front movement. Not as good in bone or expression as the puppy winner. PB (2) 1 Hyde's Foxearth Follow the Dream. Tri of 8 months, super outline and well placed shoulders. Good reach of neck and level topline. Nice head, eye and expression. She stood and showed very well, movement sound. A very nice puppy, I just preferred the expression of the dog for Best Puppy in Breed. PGB (5) 1 Hyde's Foxearth Future Magic. A 2 and a half year old sable and white bitch of quality. Very nice head with well moulded foreface, good ear placement and sweet expression. Pleasing outline, sound movement. A quality bitch. OB (2) 1 Hayward's Foxearth Castles in the Sky. A 2 and a half year old sable and white bitch that is full of quality. A superb head, eye and expression. Good outline and very sound. BOB. 2 Hyde's Ch Foxearth Fondant. Another super bitch, litter sister to the winner and the same remarks apply. Fondant has the better reach of neck and is so very sound. It was a difficult decision but in the end I could not get past the superb head of the winner. Res BOB. All four bitches present were of super quality.
